[Feature] Urban Chinese Slangs

Fun fact: the chinese word for ‘duang’ is actually made up of Jackie Chan’s chinese name, 成龙, stacked together!

Thought that this post was pretty useful and entertaining and yes, Zhang Han from the legit 不一样的美男子 (A Different Kind of Pretty Man) is indeed my 男神! (Nanshen/Male God)

Ok, for all the C-enternainment maniac, you have to know these words because they are used so often in the Chinese Entertainment! Here we go:

Update: Weibo Round-up [8 May 2015]

One of my favourite things to read on drama blogs are weibo updates! I love how I can get the essence of weibo all sorted out for me with just a click. Today, I would like to share some happiness and so I came up with my own Weibo round-up.

@杜德偉: 我的食物在哪?!

@杜德偉: 我的食物在哪?!

Alex To: Where is my food?!

It should be illegal to be this cute at 53 years old! Yes, 53, not a typo. Unimaginable, isn’t it. Continue reading

Photoshoot: Kimi Qiao Ren Liang for Femina

Photoshoot - Kimi 3

I had originally planned to do a variety shows round up today but I got on Weibo and saw that Kimi Qiao Ren Liang just had a photoshoot for Femina 伊周. Even though I said I won’t be updating about entertainment news that often but I won’t avoid it when I chance upon materials. Anyway, I guess it’s pretty apt that I post a photo shoot of Kimi Qiao since I was just declaring my love for him 2 posts ago. Enjoy. Continue reading

REBLOG: Free, legal chinese music downloads

Good things are meant to be shared! Recently, my android music download app removed chinese titles from their database and I was still worrying about it. Well, my problem is now solved!

I tried this out, the web might be a little laggy at the start but all is fine and songs are easily downloadable. The only downside is that the website is completely in Chinese but I guess you can still try to click around and see what happens even if you don’t understand Chinese.

While I am at it, let me share one of my favourite drama ost – 好的事情 by Yan Jue 严爵. It’s the ending theme song of Drunken to Love You 醉后决定爱上你.

Cheers.

[First Impression] Variety Show: We are in Love 我们相爱吧

We are in Love - cover
We are in Love (我们相爱吧) is the chinese remake of famous korean variety show – We Got Married. The cast is made up of c-actor and actress Kimi Qiao Ren Liang and Xu Lu, c-actor Ren Zhong and taiwanese actress Ruby Lin as well as korean boybander, Siwon and supermodel Liu Wen. I didn’t watch the korean version but I was looking forward to the c-version because of some familiar faces. (Okay, I’ll admit it. I’m in for Kimi. *squeals*) It’s dumb but I didn’t realise that this already started airing. So here are my thoughts!

Update: Drama Round-up

Recently, my local TV channel is showing loads of dramas that I’ve been wanting to watch but never found time for. It’s killing my productivity but bringing me loads of enjoyment. Time for a drama round-up!

1. Hanzawa Naoki [Episode 8/10]

This has been on my plan-to-watch for the longest time Continue reading

Knick-knack: Blog updates

Here’s an update on my blog renovation progress! I spent the entire day doing up a movie review on Secret and updating my pages, namely the ‘About’, ‘Blog Roll’ and ‘Chinese Novel’ pages. Finally got to linking up the dramablogs that I follow. Maybe one day I’ll do up a post introducing my favourite blogs.

I also changed the theme and attempted making my own header images with my limited photoshop skills. Gotta say I’m pretty glad with the results, even though there’s still vast improvement to be made.

Reblog: Tiny Times finale set for Summer 2015, Kai Ko out

tiny-times

Whee, Tiny Times IV is finally going to be out. It’s pretty upsetting to see that both Kai Ko and Rhydian Vaughan won’t be in this movie cause they were the reason I even started watching the movie but I have grew to love the ever adorable Chen Xuedong so I look forward to his happily-ever-after with Yang Mi’s character.

I have finished watching the Tiny Times tv drama too, which I loved as well but sadly, while the drama was more in depth, it did not cover as much plot in terms of breadth. I would love to watch more! Bonus point cause Chen Xuedong appeared in the drama too, albeit as a more minor character.

Looking forward to the part IV of this movie before I start embarking on my journey to read the actual novel it was based on. I’ve wanted to read the novel for ages but it is so lengthy, I never had the motivation to start.

PS: Cfensi is the main blog I follow for updates in the chinese entertainment world, so it is highly likely that I will be reblogging a lot of their stuff since I only plan to post my own thoughts and not news. Good things are meant to be shared anyway!

Cheers.

[First Impression] Novel: Seventeen Years Old 十七岁

Made a trip to the library in an attempt to get some work done yesterday, and ended up borrowing a Chinese novel instead.

十七岁 - 梦若妍

Here it is, 十七岁 by 梦若妍. The literal meaning of the title means “Seventeen Years Old”. The blurb of this book states:

The seventeen-year-old us were trapped in a love square.  That was the start of all the mess. The whole graduation ceremony meant nothing to me. Pan Lei wasn’t in the picture, neither was Xiao Shuang, my best friend. There was only me in my graduation hat and Hongsheng holding me by my waist. Me and my fake smiles, this is pathetic. The world is envious of our relationship but nobody knows what this relationship has ruined. Like the ripple effect, everything is falling apart.

I thought this book would be one of those youth reminiscing stories where we will be brought back to the past and reminisce about being 17 years old but I’m wrong so far. Continue reading
