I was just taking screenshots of the cute moments while watching out of habit and the next thing I know… I have enough material for a recap post. So here we are: Happy Camp on Confession Day 520 (May 20th) with Luhan, Guli Nazha, Zhang Ruoyun, Ma Sichun and Yang Di (alongside with 2 other cast members of Fighter of The Destiny but I obviously don’t care much about them because… I didn’t even get their names.)

One thing I like about Happy Camp is that while I’m not crazy over it, Happy Camp makes me laugh out loud at my screen without fail. Regardless of whether I actually know the guests before watching the episode or not, they manage to bring out the laughter in me. And that’s why I’ve always been a casual fan. I know I can count on Happy Camp when I need a laugh. Indeed, it is really a happy camp for me.

I have been catching the past few episodes of Happy Camp religiously though, because of the guests. And this episode, I’m watching because I saw…. Luhan in last week’s preview!

And bonus: there’s even Zhang Ruoyun! He didn’t come for the Divas Hit The Road episode so I’m guessing this is to make up for it. I thought that him, Ma Sichun and Yang Di were slightly out of place because this episode was obviously to promote Luhan and Nazha’s airing drama — Fighter of the Destiny. I’m not complaining though. More Zhang Ruoyun is better than no Zhang Ruoyun 😀

Unlike the stern uniformed drama roles that he is famous for playing, Zhang Ruoyun is actually a comical funny guy in real life! He brought laughter to us early in the show. He has the ability to say the wackiest thing while pretending to be all serious and proper and that makes it even funnier!

The Happy Camp Family was also sharing about how they never thought Ruoyun was so silly. He had been bombarding them with puns unexpectedly even backstage. Anyway, I was rewatching old episodes of Happy Camp (Oct 2016) and there were some youtube commentors that said Ruoyun was on the borderline of handsome and if he did not stay fair, he might be kicked out of being ‘handsome’. Well, all I can say is, look at this baby right here! Tanned, healthy and still as yummy!

So the cast of Fighter of the Destiny (Luhan, Guli Nazha, Joseph Zeng Shunxi, Chen Shu) makes up the one team together with Wei Jia and Xie Na.

On the other group, we have Zhang Ruoyun, Sandra Ma Sichun, Yangdi together with He Jiong, Wu Xin and Du Haitao. Poor Yang Di was the butt of everyone’s jokes since the moment he stepped out but those moments are really funny. I only knew Yang Di recently because I’ve seen him guesting on Give Me Five 高能少年团 and Happy Camp. Initially I wasn’t quite impressed by him cause he was not young, not handsome and pretty rude. But as time pass, I realise he does add a lot of comical value.

In this episode, during one of the game, contestants are supposed to ask their opponents question and their opponents have to list 3 answers within 5 seconds. To win, you must make your opponent unable to come up with answers. And this can be achieved by asking them some real tough questions… like ‘who are the three people you like most amongst this group of people?’ This is set up to offend people who are not in the list. Yang Di was posed this question by Xie Na and he answered, “Sandra Ma Sichun, He Jiong and Du Haitao.”

When asked why Luhan was not in the list, Yang Di replied, “because he was on the opposing team.” Fair enough. He Jiong then asked why was Zhang Ruoyun not on the list then? (Could it be because he jokingly asked the team leader, Yang Di, what is the secret signal to quit the team even before the game started due to his lack of faith? Hahaha.) Yang Di gave a hilarious answer — he said, “The time was too rushed, I was afraid I might misread Zhang Ruoyun as Zhang Ruojun.” Hahahaha. The chinese character for Ruoyun’s ‘yun’ is similar to ‘jun’ and a lot of people mispronounce it. Top notch excuse.

Wu Xin, the last person on Yang Di’s team then asked why was she not chosen then. Her name won’t be mispronounced. Yang Di then claimed she was sitting outside the light so he couldn’t see her well. Hahahaha. Extremely funny especially since Wu Xin’s has one of the least presence in the Happy Family.

Xie Na then pressed Yang Di for three reasons that makes him dislike Luhan (as a continuation from the previous question). Yang Di listed: his pants are torn (Luhan was wearing ripped jeans), he is afraid of taking the aeroplane and his hair colour was ugly. Look at Luhan’s face. He can’t bear to hear Yang Di sprouting all these nonsense as if it was true. He Jiong then asked if Yang Di was doubting Luhan’s looks and Yang Di took a moment to reply, “No (because everyone can see how handsome Luhan is), I’m doubting his fashion sense,” which made everyone double up in laughter once again.

Eventually, Yang Di failed to answer one question in time and had to pull one of the five strings as punishment. There was a 20% chance that he would pull “the” string and burst the balloon above him. Luhan chose a colour for him and…. it burst at the first try! Whereas Xie Na had already pulled two strings before this and was still safe. Hilarious. Look at their joy.

The next round was Luhan’s turn. Ma Sichun asked him about three things that he would first notice in a girl. Luhan gave some nondescript answer about lips and eyes or something and Yang Di asked, “Not the knees?” in reference to how Luhan likes wearing ripped jeans that shows his knees off. Hahahaha. This will be a running gag.

When Luhan loses, Yang Di then picked the yellow string for him to pull…. to match his yellow hair. Hahaha. He is really going all out — I wonder how can he not be afraid of backlash from Lufans.

Ma Sichun was then asked to name three celebrities who are stingy… Zhang Ruoyun turned even before she said his name. Did he know she was going to list him!? Ma Sichun did clarify that she was just using his name to fill up a position after that though. So she doesn’t think out cute boy Ruoyun is stingy… Can’t say the same for Zhou Dongyu though..

Just look at our Ruoyun. He still manages to give off that supermodel magazine cover smirk even in the midst of this crazy game.

Gulinazha once again plays the confused role as she asks, “oh, we won?” as she high fives her teammates. Reminds me of the Diva Hits the Road moments where everyone would be in discussion and she’s just lost. Anyway, I’m glad her hair grew out. It looks so much better, I couldn’t get used to her hair in Diva Hits the Road 3.

Luhan then did a superman jump, which I must admit looks impressive. However… in doing so, he successfully blocked both his teammates while leaving all 3 of the opponents faces out open. After seeing the result, he immediately kneeled down and apologised cutely. Reminds me of Jackson in Keep Running 5 Ep 6. Is this a korean culture thing? Seek forgiveness and you shall be pardoned? Because, as far as I know, kneeling down is a big taboo for Chinese men. It is too embarrassing and a man’s pride is more important than anything — hence he shall not kneel in front of just anyone.

During the card shuffling, Luhan kept on zooming past He Jiong at the very last moment and being all happy about it. Everyone else was perplexed and when He Jiong asked him why did he do that, Luhan said he thought it would help in the game… only to realise that it makes no difference! Haha. Such a cute little boy. So everyone else’s confusion is cleared — it was Luhan that was confused.

He Jiong then comments that Nazha is extremely strong. Many times, he had tried to pull her down but was restricted by her instead. Her slim frame is deceiving. And I wonder, is strength a trait of girls from Xinjiang? Dilireba is also surprisingly strong.

They then change and prepare to head to the next segment of the show which is a new game prepared for their 20th anniversary. Basically, teams would perform and the 100-strong audience would vote for who they like more. There will be 3 rounds. In the first two rounds, the stage space will be smaller (according to the number of votes) for whichever group who loses. The last round will determines who wins.

To start off, they have a warm up round of showing some of their special abilities. Joseph Zeng Shun Xi said he could imitate Zhang Ruoyun. Ruoyun immediately retorted, “You can’t just close your eyes and pretend to be me!” Haha, Zeng Shunxi has huge eyes while Ruoyun’s eyes are… sufficient I guess hahaha. Ruoyun then said he could imitate Du Haitao too… And the above image is resulted. Similarity: 90%!

After their talent showcase, voting starts. He Jiong then states that whoever votes for the red team (his team), he will give them Luhan’s autograph! (Even though Luhan is on the opposing team…) Wei Jia retaliates by saying, by voting for the blue team, he will give them Luhan himself. That’s not cheating….. right?

Hearing that, He Jiong cannot lose. He threatened, he will give Yang Di to whoever does NOT vote for his team. Hahaha. Carrot and stick approach, perhaps?

Zhang Ruoyun, Sandra Ma Sichun and Yang Di then performed a Beauty and the Beast piece which trended on Weibo. I must say that Ruoyun and Ma Sichun can sing really well. It was absolutely enjoyable. Also, it must come as no surprise that Zhang Ruoyun and Yang Di were portraying the same character… only that Yang Di was the beast and Ruoyun was the prince. The others also joked that Yang Di’s appearance was scarier than the beast mask he was wearing.

Zeng Shunxi and Gulinazha then performed a dance which was also pretty impressive. I must add here that Zeng Shunxi is really good looking actually but I didn’t take much screenshots of him because I was too busy over Ruoyun, Luhan… and even Yang Di. Sorry, boy. Maybe I might start watching Fighter of the Destiny after it finish airing and then I can give Zeng Shunxi more airtime here on SkimmedMilkDrama.

But… weren’t Luhan and Nazha the real leads of the show? So…. they come on a show to promote and the female lead is hugging someone who is not her couple on the drama. Is that really appropriate?

After the first performance, the red team (Beauty and the Beast) lost to Nazha and Shunxi’s dance performance. He Jiong was upset because… even in the warm up round, they had lost (probably due to Luhan’s popularity) but at least they had 38 votes. After Yang Di’s performance, they only had 35 votes!! Hahaha.

The next performance by the red team was a punny parody by Wu Xin and Yang Di on Back In Time, another drama I enjoyed. It was absolutely HILARIOUS. I actually replayed this thrice because it was that funny. Because of the space constraint after losing the first performance, Wu Xin complained that they rehearsed in vain the previous day. The stage is so small they can’t even fit in all their props. I actually admire Wu Xin a lot. Even though I didn’t like her much at the start because she was the black hole for games (she sucks at almost all the games), wasn’t outstanding and wasn’t particularly funny, she is an independent strong (yet physically weak) woman. She might suck at games but she won’t sulk and ask for help — she face her weakness bravely. And also, she sings HORRIBLY. But she is not afraid to perform singing and even made it a running gag. I admire her a lot because I can’t sing either and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to be as brave as her to showcase something she knows she sucks in to let others laugh at.

Going against them is Luhan…. who changed out of his ripped jeans. Seems like he took Yang Di’s advice. Hahaha.

He was a little electrical magnet but it just can’t compare to the hilarious performance by Wu Xin and Yang Di.

And hence… he lost. I was pleasantly surprised by this result because I was afraid fans might vote for Luhan regardless. His performance was not downright horrible so voting for him is not wrong either. Luhan was also very exaggerating in this episode. All I can say is Yang Di brings out the funny in him.

Because they lost, they did not have any props to aid them in the third performance. Luhan cutely tries to steal a stereo but was caught by He Jiong.

While singing, Luhan suddenly went super out of tune. Almost worse than Wu Xin’s standards and I momentarily doubted if he was really a singer. It seems like Luhan is more of an idol than a singer. He can not remember his own songs lyrics (in other shows/videos)…. It’s hard for me to take him seriously even though I admit he looks like a cute deer I would love to love.

Wei Jia’s mother also came with her friends to support the show with their line dancing. Such a cute moment. He Jiong also calls her mother and she stopped her steps towards Wei Jia and rushed over to hug He Jiong when she saw him. Wei Jia went, “The fake son is better than your biological son ah!” Haha, it was so cute. And look at the expression Wei Jia had. Xie Na then reminded her that He Jiong was the opposing team and Wei Jia’s mother said, “Please vote for both! Let them tie.”

Eventually, the Fighter of The Destiny team won. No surprises, since they were here on promotion afterall. The losing team had to make a confession to one party of the winning team on May 20th through weibo. Have you seen their confessions yet?

As it turns out, Yang Di had to confess to Luhan and it is funny because he had been against Luhan this whole episode. Maybe I’ll cover the Yang Di’s 520 confession to Luhan on another post. This post had took me 4 hours just to blog, without including the time taken for the screenshots. It is too long. Gosh, but this makes it seems like I’m a die-hard Luhan fan. My blog will be plastered with him! I’m not… even though I do enjoy watching Luhan every now and then and shipping him with Dilireba… Well, time for me to work harder and blog about more celebrities I like!
