Ten Years of Glory: Zurich & The King’s Avatar

Recently, my Douyin feed hit me like a critical hit from Ye Xiu himself. Suddenly, I’m seeing fans and cosplayers standing in the streets of Zurich, living out Glory World Championships from The King’s Avatar (Quan Zhi Gao Shou) in real time!

2025 marks the year of the Glory Worlds Championships in the novel’s timeline, and fans are taking that seriously: flying to Zurich, Switzerland, recreating scenes and cosplaying Team Happy in Old Town Zurich. Even 10 years after the novel’s conclusion, the love for The King’s Avatar hasn’t dimmed one bit.

[English Translation: Chapter 1] Liang Sheng, Can We Not Be Laden With Grief 《凉生,我们可不可以不忧伤1》

New translation project. Adapted as a drama to be aired in Dec 2017.

The secret which I cannot tell. Similar to Liang Sheng’s one, it was endless sorrow.

Her name was Jiang Sheng, his name was Liang Sheng.

She thought he was her older brother, he thought she was his younger sister. The poor family financial situation and the pressure to survive made younger sister Jiang Sheng completely dependent and trust older brother Liang Sheng. This made her unconsciously fell into the emotional whirlpool that was contrary to ethics and moral principles. I called him Liang Sheng and made him call me Jiang Sheng. Perhaps this was merely a dream, a very long dream? Jiang Sheng said: “Since you left, there are only two things left to do in my life, to find you and to wait for you!”

Cheng Tian You: “When I was very young, I heard a very beautiful saying. They said: A butterfly cannot fly over the vast sea. Now, I only understand, it is not that a butterfly cannot fly over the vast sea; actually after suffering many hardships a butterfly can fly over the vast sea, but finds out that the vast sea has never waited for its arrival. I am just like a butterfly who has suffered many hardships. Whereas Jiang Sheng, you are just like the vast sea who has never waited for a butterfly.”

Reblog: Tiny Times finale set for Summer 2015, Kai Ko out

tiny-times

Whee, Tiny Times IV is finally going to be out. It’s pretty upsetting to see that both Kai Ko and Rhydian Vaughan won’t be in this movie cause they were the reason I even started watching the movie but I have grew to love the ever adorable Chen Xuedong so I look forward to his happily-ever-after with Yang Mi’s character.

I have finished watching the Tiny Times tv drama too, which I loved as well but sadly, while the drama was more in depth, it did not cover as much plot in terms of breadth. I would love to watch more! Bonus point cause Chen Xuedong appeared in the drama too, albeit as a more minor character.

Looking forward to the part IV of this movie before I start embarking on my journey to read the actual novel it was based on. I’ve wanted to read the novel for ages but it is so lengthy, I never had the motivation to start.

PS: Cfensi is the main blog I follow for updates in the chinese entertainment world, so it is highly likely that I will be reblogging a lot of their stuff since I only plan to post my own thoughts and not news. Good things are meant to be shared anyway!

Cheers.

[First Impression] Novel: Seventeen Years Old 十七岁

Made a trip to the library in an attempt to get some work done yesterday, and ended up borrowing a Chinese novel instead.

十七岁 - 梦若妍

Here it is, 十七岁 by 梦若妍. The literal meaning of the title means “Seventeen Years Old”. The blurb of this book states:

The seventeen-year-old us were trapped in a love square.  That was the start of all the mess. The whole graduation ceremony meant nothing to me. Pan Lei wasn’t in the picture, neither was Xiao Shuang, my best friend. There was only me in my graduation hat and Hongsheng holding me by my waist. Me and my fake smiles, this is pathetic. The world is envious of our relationship but nobody knows what this relationship has ruined. Like the ripple effect, everything is falling apart.

I thought this book would be one of those youth reminiscing stories where we will be brought back to the past and reminisce about being 17 years old but I’m wrong so far. Continue reading
